Dr. Hartsell is board certified from the ANCC in the clinical areas of Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She earned her Undergraduate degree in Nursing from UNC-Greensboro with a Major Concentration in Community Health Education. She went on to Duke University, earning her MSN in Administration of Nursing Systems in 1996 and a Post-Masters from the FNP program in 1999 from Duke University. In 2006, she furthered her training, earning another Post-Masters in Family Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing from Rush University in Chicago. Dr. Hartsell earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Duke University in 2012 focusing on improving quality medical services by implementing and measuring evidenced based care.
Dr. Hartsell brings a wealth of experience to Wake Psychiatry having worked in private practice for over 20 years in addition to experiences as a Nurse Manager at the VA Hospital, Director of Psychiatric Service at Moses Cone Hospital, Home Health Care, and Pediatric Care at the NC Baptist Hospital. Dr. Hartsell’s schedule is open to school-age children, adolescents, adults and families. Special areas of interest include providing traditional and non-traditional care within the most complex psychiatric disorders.
